The Coral are new to me. So as a huge psych, folk, 60's pop fan, this record is a revelation. It is astonishing. My favorite producer John Leckie produced it, and it certainly shows. His stamp is all over this gargantuan slab of folk psych harmony pop. Some of the best acoustic guitar sounds I've ever heard are on this album. The Fleet Foxes seem to be a big influence to. Their debut came out in 2008. The Skelly Bros. started writing this album that year. They just HAD to have heard that debut. Robin Pecknold and the Skelly Bros. have a lot in common. CSN are also quite present in the harmonies. Absolutely wonderful singing. Get this record if you like CSN, Fleet Foxes, David Crosby, The Zombies, GospelbeacH, Beachwood Sparks, The Byrds. Buyer beware: this album sounds like this album. Other Coral albums don't really tread this territory that much at all. It is lightning in a bottle. NB
