Description

"If I Had a Mouse as Big as a House..." is a book of poems for children of all ages—an appealing mix of insights and poetic moods. Here, with a child’s eye, the author sees wonder in shadows, rejects clock-time, admires chameleons, and addresses the rules of English spelling with the quirky good humor. Each poem is colorfully illustrated, and the drawings reinforce the positive messages throughout. Reading together makes for memorable moments. This collection, rich in rhythms and rhymes, gives Parents and Grandparents a wonderful way to share the power and fun of language with their loved ones!

This poetry book is not only beautifully and thoughtfully written, but it reaches out to all age levels; giving enjoyment to those young and old. I just read it aloud to my 95 year old mother (who can no longer see well enough to read), and she marveled at the wording and the meanings of the poems. She exclaimed over and over, after each poem ended, "He's a genius!" She kept asking how he came up with the ideas he expressed.I have sent this book to my 8 year old granddaughter, and bought copies for my adult children and my other grandchildren as well. The poems are a delight, and many express a truly deep understanding of our surroundings, and everyday encounters we take for granted. Some are whimsical, and others food for thought. I highly recommend this engaging book of poetry.
