Description

Cape Cod author and photographer David Brinning has sailed to many harbors and heard plenty of tales. Some of those tales have been brought to life in this adventurous mystery. The House of Time is a story of a biologist who gives up the corporate world to study the fisheries of a small island and finds himself tangled in something he could never imagine. Entwined is the story of a young girl who gives up her previous life to summer on the island.

In House of Time; David Brinning has provided his readers a simple but richly descriptive and engrossing read that is full of unexpected twists and turns. The book revolves around the life of the protaganist - Dave Wyman a semi-retied biologist, living on a small island in Maine and the events encountered there that would change his life, and those he knew forever.I wondered during my first sitting where exactly does the dream end and reality begin but the author craftfully lets the events unfold that keeps you guessing. Brinning's vivd description of the sea and island life and his ability to describe the nuances of lobstering, boating, avaiation and even the intracasies of the island ferry lead one to assume he is drawing from personal experiences. I wasn't sure where he was "taking me" through the first 2/3rd of the novel but when I did get there it just seemed right.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found that the characheters of The House of Time resonated long after I closed the book.
