Product Description Women of the House takes Delta Burkes Suzanne Sugarbaker from the interior design firm of Designing Women and places her in an even more contentious setting - the U.S. House of Representatives. In this star-studded CBS spin-off, Sugarbaker - the former Miss World Georgia - takes over her most recent husbands Congressional seat after he dies in office, and proceeds to hilariously rock the boat. Delta Burkes brassy Suzanne finds Washington not quite ready for her brand of politics, though she does form an unusual bond with then-current President Bill Clinton. Suzanne also brings her mentally-challenged brother Jim (Better Call Sauls Jonathan Banks) and her young adopted daughter, Desiree (Brittany Parkyn), insuring that smooth-sailing is not on the docket. Teri Garr also stars as Suzannes press secretary Sissy Emerson, a down-and-out reporter doing her best to clean up her drinking act. Everybody Loves Raymonds Patricia Heaton portrays Natty Hollingsworth, Suzannes snotty, uber-Conservative, pain-in-the-behind administrative assistant whose Congressman boyfriend is in prison. And then there is Jennifer Malone (Valerie Mahaffey, Julie Hagerty), a vivacious, naive, frail housewife whose husband has recently left her to handle her tyrannical kids alone. About the Actor Delta Burke - Delta Burke is best known for her portrayal as Suzanne Sugarbaker in CBS Designing Women (1986), which ran for seven seasons and for which she received two Emmy nominations for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. When a teenager she represented Florida in the Miss America Pageant, and won a talent scholarship, which she used to attend a two-year study program at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She got her first television role within a month of her arrival in Los Angeles. She starred in the TV movie The Seekers (1979) and the series The Chisholms (1979). She had the leading role in Filthy Rich (1982) and a starring role in HBOs first weekly series, 1st & Ten: The Championship (1984). Through her own production company, Perseverance, Inc., Delta produced and starred in the ABC television series Delta (1992). She actually sang in the series and dyed her dark hair blonde for the role. She was reunited with Designing Women (1986) creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason when she starred in and produced Women of the House (1995), in which she reprised her role as Suzanne Sugarbaker. Much of Deltas time now is spent designing clothing and managing her New York company, Delta Burke Design, which is becoming very successful. She is married to actor Gerald McRaney. They live in New Orleans when not working or traveling. Teri Garr - While Teri Garrs dancing can be seen in nine Elvis Presley movies, her first speaking role in motion pictures was in the 1968 feature Head (1968), starring The Monkees. In the 1970s she became well established in television with appearances on shows such as Star Trek (1966), It Takes a Thief (1968) and McCloud (1970), and became a semi-regular on The Sonny and Cher Show (1976) as Chers friend, Olivia. Garr has since risen to become one of Hollywoods most versatile, energetic and well-recognized actresses. She has starred in many memorable films, including Young Frankenstein (1974), Oh, God! (1977), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Mr. Mom (1983), After Hours (1985) and her Academy Award-nominated performance for Best Supporting Actress in Tootsie (1982). Other film roles include The Black Stallion (1979), One from the Heart (1981), The Escape Artist (1982), Firstborn (1984), Let It Ride (1989), Full Moon in Blue Water (1988), Out Cold (1989), Short Time (1990), Waiting for the Light (1990), Mom and Dad Save the World (1992), Perfect Alibi (1995), Ready to Wear (1994) and A Simple Wish (1997). Patricia Heaton - While studying acting in New York with drama teacher William Esper, Heaton made her Broadway debut in the gospel musical Dont Get God Started. She and her fellow students then formed Stage Three, an acting company that produced plays Off-Broadway. They took one production, The Johnstown Vindicator, to Los Angeles, where Heatons performance caught the eyes of casting directors. Consequently, Heaton portrayed the producer/daughter in the television series Room for Two (1992). Her additional television credits include a starring role in the series Someone Like Me (1994), a regular role in Women of the House (1995), and a recurring role on Thirtysomething (1987).
