Description

When Alice Ticino's pony bolts and crashes into a family of strangers, it changes her life. Before long, this lonely girl who has never known love has been befriended by the family and - a dream come true - is allowed to wander freely in their stables, where they train racehorses for other owners. But Alice must stay away from Snatchcorn, a beautiful stallion, so dangerous that it is soon to be put down. Alice finds that she has a special bond with Snatchcorn. Can she save his life by persuading his owner that he can be tamed?

This book started out great and I had very high hopes for it. Sadly, it all went downhill...or rather, uphill. In the beginning of the story, Alice is a little girl in a very sad life situation. One day, her horse takes off and lands her in the middle of a new life. Suddenly she has friends, family enters her life, and of course, there's a horse that she alone can handle and save. These elements have so much potential to be part of an intriguing and satisfying story, but here they fall far short of that. There is no struggle in the resolution of the conflicts in the life of poor Alice. Everything goes form wrong to right in a very short time and then there is more book to read. I kept hoping that there would be more to overcome, a plot that was deep and meaningful, but it did not happen. Two conflicts were thrown in, seemingly just to make the plot slightly less perfect, but those conflicts (one with a mean girl and one with finding Alice's mother) are never resolved in a satisfactory way. There are far far better books available about girls and horses. Don't waste your time on this one.
