If there were any justice in the world...Some metal bands deserve anonymity. They stroke their massive egos while they tell us if we don't like them, not only are we not "metal" but that we are also not their friends... Other bands just put their hearts and souls into making gloriously epic metal soundtracks of ages past. Virgin Steele is one band that suffers in undeserved anonymity and still manages to put out utterly classic masterpieces of story telling that are somehow both ancient and modern in the same breath. A romantic-barbaric opera no doubt and the "House of Atreus part II" along with the first chapter are examples of the finest historic tale weaving I know of! I can't say enough about the magic of simplicity when it comes to crafting a solid chunk of ageless music. I absolutely love the House of Atreus series and can't believe that some bands are successful putting out mindless drivel to the masses while other bands that put true creative genius on the line remain, like hidden gems, covered in dust.
